Choose your circle (Chennai South I, Chennai South II, Chennai Central, Chennai North or Chennai West), type the code shown in the image and press Submit. Areas at the edge of the city may come under the Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram or Tiruvallur circles instead.

TNPDCL is TANGEDCO under a new name. In 2024 the Tamil Nadu government moved TANGEDCO's power generation and green energy businesses into two new companies, and the Registrar of Companies approved the change of name from TANGEDCO to TNPDCL on 27 June 2024. TNEB was the state electricity board set up in 1957, and in 2008 it was reorganised into the holding company TNEB Ltd with TANGEDCO under it. That is why TNPDCL still runs its outage and grievance portals on tnebltd.gov.in and its X account is still @TANGEDCO_Offcl.

File a grievance with TNPDCL's Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum through its CGRF portal at tnebltd.gov.in/cgrfonline. If you disagree with the Forum's order, you can appeal to the Electricity Ombudsman under the Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission within 30 days of that order, in the form given in Annexure III. The Ombudsman can accept a late appeal only if you show good reason for the delay.

Look here for reports near you and for announced shutdowns, check your electricity company's app or website for planned maintenance, or call its helpline with your consumer number: they can tell you whether your feeder is down.

Usually one of three things: maintenance the company announced in advance, a fault on your feeder or transformer, or load shedding when demand is higher than supply. If the next street has power and you don't, you are probably on a different feeder.

Call TNPDCL on 94987 94987, or dial 1912. Write down the complaint number they give you: if the supply isn't restored in time, that number is what you take to the CGRF.
