How to escalate a AVVNL complaint

Complaint not fixed? How to escalate

Every distribution licensee in India must run a Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum, and every state has an Electricity Ombudsman above it. Work up the ladder; keep your complaint number from step one.

If the supply was out longer than your state allows, the discom may owe you compensation. What you can claim, and how.

Numbers verified from the Rajasthan Jan Soochna portal complaint-modes document (2020), which also lists AVVNL's own 'Urja Sarthi' app (store listing not verified here); Bijli Mitra added AVVNL per its App Store notes. Why does the next street have power and you don't?

In most Indian cities your supply comes off a feeder shared with a few neighbouring areas. When a transformer overheats in summer, the discom often switches areas off in turn to let it cool — so your neighbour's lights come back while yours go out. Complaining moves the cut; it doesn't end it. Knowing this changes what you should do.

Common questions

Is there a power cut in Ajmer today?

The top of this page shows outages that residents of Ajmer reported in the last 24 hours, and any shutdown the electricity company has announced. No reports does not prove the supply is on. If your power is out, report it here and call AVVNL.

How do I check for a power cut in my area?

Look here for reports near you and for announced shutdowns, check your electricity company's app or website for planned maintenance, or call its helpline with your consumer number: they can tell you whether your feeder is down.

Why is there a power cut in my area today?

Usually one of three things: maintenance the company announced in advance, a fault on your feeder or transformer, or load shedding when demand is higher than supply. If the next street has power and you don't, you are probably on a different feeder.

Where do I complain about a power cut in Ajmer?

Call AVVNL on 1800-180-6565, or dial 1912. Write down the complaint number they give you: if the supply isn't restored in time, that number is what you take to the CGRF.
